Help Linda & Lorelei Recover and Heal
Donation protected
On April 11, our dear colleague Linda Garcia lost everything in an apartment fire. She sustained severe burns on her hands but was able to rescue her beloved dog, Lorelei. They are okay, but it will be a very long road back to normal. She is receiving support from the Red Cross in Lakewood, and we at WSCAP are committed to supporting her however we can going forward.
Linda has spent her life working for racial and environmental justice. In 2019, she was the North American recipient of the Goldman Environmental Prize for her work to stop the construction of the Tesoro Savage oil export terminal in Vancouver. Doing so prevented what would have been America’s largest oil terminal from being built, halting the flow of 11 million gallons of crude oil per day from North Dakota to Washington.
Linda is also an executive board member and co-founder of HUMAN (Humanitarian United Movement & Action Network), and continues to use her voice and expertise to advocate for racial and economic justive in her role as Policy and Outreach Director for WSCAP.
Moments like this are a reminder of how quickly life can change and the importance of the community we build together. In that spirit, we invite you to give what you can to support Linda and Lorelei in their healing and recovery.
