Our dear Linda Severt has been diagnosed with stage 2, triple negative breast cancer. Her prognosis is good: as Linda puts it, “I’ll probably survive (because I’ve kept up with all the boob-smashing protocol).” But she does have to go through chemo, surgery and radiation to treat it, which is not very fun.
Linda’s medical team has strongly advised her not to continue working in places like children’s hospitals and crowded settings while she has a compromised immune system from the treatment. Says Linda, “I love my job, but couldn’t argue with the logic of that (I tried, of course …).” So for a while Linda won’t be able to perform at Seattle Children’s Hospital, retirement & memory care communities, libraries or festivals.
Linda has never asked for donations for herself before, and was reluctant to do it, but having to work while dealing with cancer would be challenging. So we are working to raise funds so that Linda can rest, recover, and not worry about gigging while she heals.
“I have always wondered what it would be like to be bald, so now’s my chance …."
