Help Linda Jackson's Family Come Home to Pacific Palisades

Hi, my name is Donna, and I'm reaching out to you today to help my dear friend Linda Jackson Vitale (shown here) and her family.

Linda is a devoted mother, a hardworking professional, and a beloved member of the Santa Monica and Pacific Palisades communities. Linda is the Founder and Artistic Director of the Los Angeles Metropolitan Opera, a community opera company based in Santa Monica, California. She organized and ran the Palisades Elementary School orchestra when the school board was unable to provide a music teacher. She wrote and produced an original musical for the third grade class. She taught the children's choruses at the Palisades Methodist Church and Palisades Presbyterian Church. Linda gave voice lessons to local children—two of whom went on to win first place in the Pacific Palisades Chamber of Commerce Youth Pageant. And last, but not least, Linda is a professor of music at Santa Monica College.

Tuesday morning, January 7th, Linda was teaching her Opera Appreciation class on Zoom as always. While class was beginning, her husband, John, got an alert on his phone and showed her the black smoke billowing about two miles from their house. They had 20 minutes to pack up and evacuate! Fortunately, everyone was home right then and they were able to get out together with their pets.

The family thought they were coming home that night. By Thursday, a neighbor sent them this photo. Their beloved home of 32 years had burned to the ground—along with family memorabilia, two pianos, synthesizers, recording and sound equipment, and all that they had created together over the years.

The financial strain has been overwhelming, and the Jackson family is struggling to make ends meet.

We are aiming to raise $50,000 to help the Jackson-Vitale family cover the many unexpected expenses, secure their home, and get back on their feet. Every dollar raised will go directly to supporting Linda and her family during this challenging time.
