I want to share a story of someone very special in my life, that has also touched so many others. Yes, this is the story of my Momma. A Mom of one, Grandmother of three, Sister of eight and Life partner of 20 years and counting. She has touched so many lives and contributed so many countless acts of kindness throughout her life & the community, a true pillar. From being a lifetime member of our local Sun City library, to starting an out reach program through her church to help low income seniors find affordable housing. Linda has had the privilege of sitting on multiple nonprofit boards too. She has been a Small business owner in the Temecula Valley helping and providing for others for the last 18 years, and a member of the Murrieta Chamber of Commerce. But we are probably most thankful to the Lions club where she has shared many seats over the years since 2003. The Lions Clubs was participating in the Temecula Health awareness event, where an ultrasound discovered a lump in my Mom’s thyroid. And that is how our cancer journey has started...
The following couple months after the initial notice, she went through many appointments and biopsies to ultimately find out she has Thyroid Cancer. But unlike most Thyroid cancers, she happens to have one of the most rare, aggressive types there is... Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer, ATC for short. ATC is so rare that there is only 600 diagnosed cases a year. With very few experts and surgeons who know how to treat it, options are limited. Every decision and treatment needs to be completed immediately, as each day makes a complete difference. Unfortunately that also means finding treatments that are covered by insurance is very problematic. In the case of my mom, her insurance would not cover any of it. So now we are on a journey to seek treatment, but at a very large financial debit. Without these procedures, her life span would be very grim. Which would be a huge loss to everyone she has blessed within her life so far, family and friends especially.
If you’ve made it this far, thank you for your time in reading her story thus far.
If you feel in your heart to donate towards her medical costs, I want to say a huge thank you from Linda & our family for your kindness in her time of need.
