Our Linda, loving wife of NYPD MOS (retired 70 Pct), mother of NYPD MOS (Active Sgt) and 2 hospital employees (Weill Cornell & SIUH), beloved grandmother, sister, aunt & friend was diagnosed with Interstitial Lung Disease in December 2022. With the support & care from her family & an outstanding medical team from Weill Cornell & Columbia Presbyterian in NYC, the hope was that she could be treated & fully recover.
Sadly, despite the ongoing & excellent medical treatment she has received, this disease has progressed, causing additional issues such as requiring 24/7 oxygen, severe pulmonary hypertension and fibrosis & right sided congestive heart failure. After exhausting all available options, her medical team has advised that she does require a Double Lung transplant ASAP. Following her recent 4th ICU stay of 20 days this year alone, she is currently at home being cared for by her devoted husband resulting in eliminating his ability to work, as they await her transplant listing to come through.
The road ahead is long & frightening, and this journey will come with many challenges, emotionally, physically, and financially. Never ending medical bills / co pays, outrageous insurance costs, time away from work & travel to/from NYC for all of her family is the new reality. The care needed for Linda - before, during & after her transplant has and will continue to place a tremendous strain on the family. Pre and post surgery expenses will continue to be challenging as she will require a lifetime of prohibitively expensive anti rejection drugs and continued medical monitoring at the mercy of declining insurance benefits.
That’s why we are humbly asking for your support.
Any contribution, big or small, will help ease the financial burden and allow Lindas family & loved ones to focus on what matters most, getting her healthy.
If you are able to, please consider helping Linda & her family in any way you can. Every share, every dollar, and every prayer or message of support will be greatly appreciated.
