Hello family and friends,
Linda went in for an outpatient procedure to check her bladder and ureter after her series of UTI issues. They had verified that she did not have any bacteria anymore, but she was still having issues. The doctor found that the right ureter had some inflammation and where it entered the bladder there also was some inflammation. He took some samples to submit for biopsy.
The biopsy results showed that what Linda has is a type of bladder cancer (urothelial carcinoma). The results on the biopsy’s showed that the samples from the ureter were of the more aggressive type whereas those from the bladder area were not.
More biopsy samples will be taken from the bladder on the 14th. The oncologist discussed how they look at the data to choose an approach to treatment. With these factors in mind, the choice made was to proceed with chemotherapy now. This will be 4 rounds of treatment, each round being 3 weeks. Week 1 and week 2 she will receive a cocktail of two chemicals by infusion (4 hrs.). Week 3 will be a week with no treatment. The first chemotherapy will start November 25.
There will be side effects from these chemicals. Both are known to cause some nausea, which can be from very mild to pretty bad. He has provided a prescription for anti-nausea pills for that if she has episodes of nausea. There could be some hair loss, but he thinks it will be more of a thinning of hair as compared to noticeable loss of hair. Also, this cocktail is not good for the kidneys. It is better to do this treatment while she has 2 healthy kidneys. After the chemo is finished there will have to be a period (~1 month?) of no treatment before surgery is performed. The urologist will be the one to do that and he has indicated that his plan was to remove the ureter between the right kidney and the bladder, as well as the right kidney. He would also do something in the bladder, removing the cancerous area.
Bob has had a minor issue in his upper neck area and this week he received an ablation of some nerves (that is burning/cauterizing the nerves). The treatment is good for 6 to 12 months. He has already been working as an Uber driver to offset some expenses. We would like Bob to be able to focus his attention on Linda and the needs that will arrive during these months. We would also like to help them with expenses and all the medical bills.
Bob and Linda have been a blessing to our community, family, marriages, friends and church for several decades. Everyone around them knows that they have always given 200% of themselves to others. Whether it was a new members class, a marriage counseling, a prayer group or supporting the church in Spain as elders, they have always being fulfilling God's calling in their lives and blessing ours in the process.
So dear friends, with the journey ahead, we ask for your support, whether financial or/and spiritual, we appreciate all the love, prayers and support you can provide Bob and Linda.
We pray for healing and a super-natural blessing over their lives and their family.
"Now to him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.“ Eph. 3:20
We thank you for your support in advance and pray that God will bless you, keep you and give you peace.
Thank you,
