Help Linda Recover After Palisades Fire
Donation protected
On January 7th, my mother, Linda Kaye, experienced the unimaginable: the loss of her treasured home of 28 years, and the stability it afforded her, to the Palisades Fire. The home where she raised me as a single parent, and the neighborhood and community she helped foster were leveled by the 100 mile an hour fire storm.
My mother poured her heart and soul into her home, making it a welcome and peaceful space for everyone that entered. From her numerous fountains (including the one we affectionately nicknamed Stonehenge) and family of scrub jays she religiously fed peanuts, to the antique piano we could not keep tuned but played with love nonetheless - every aspect of her house was a home. And over the past 4 years, she tirelessly worked to turn our home into a rental property to not only offer her financial stability but also to share the pure magic of her property with others.
Thankfully, my mom and her animals are safe. The road ahead will be very difficult, however, with significant financial hurdles to overcome. Her insurance company of 26 years cancelled her policy 6 weeks ago and she scrambled to get coverage through the California Fair Plan.
I have organized this donation page in response to the outpouring of love and support from our communities. If you know my mom, you know she will never ask for help. So I am asking for help on her behalf.
Any donation, no matter the size, will assist with her immediate and ongoing needs that may not be covered by other sources of aid while she works to get back on her feet and navigates this uncertain time.
With the utmost gratitude,
