Help My Dad Fight Stage 3 Esophageal Cancer

Hi, my name is Lily, and I’m fundraising for my dad, our family’s rock and the strongest man I know.

In September, our lives were turned upside down when my dad was diagnosed with Stage 3 Esophageal Cancer, with two lymph nodes already involved. Since then, he has endured months of aggressive chemotherapy, a life-altering 10-hour esophagectomy at OHSU, multiple complications, and a grueling recovery and he’s still fighting with everything he’s got.

He now receives all nutrition through a J-tube and continues to face painful side effects from treatments. Despite AFib, malnutrition, dehydration, and lung complications, he’s kept pushing forward with incredible strength and hope.

But the emotional and financial toll this journey has taken on my parents is becoming unbearable.

They’ve exhausted their savings, burned through all their PTO and FMLA, and even with every effort to return to work, it’s been nearly impossible. My mom has been by his side through every hospital stay, every tube feed, every sleepless night. They’re fighting this battle together, but it’s a heavy one physically, emotionally, and financially.

There have been hopeful moments like the surgery successfully removing the tumor with clear margins, but there have also been devastating setbacks. Most recently, my dad has been in unrelenting pain with few answers from doctors, and we’re praying for healing, relief, and a miracle.

I’m starting this fundraiser because they can’t do this alone anymore. The mounting costs of treatment, travel to OHSU, medications, hospital stays, missed work, and ongoing recovery have pushed them to the edge. I know they would never ask for help themselves so I’m asking on their behalf.
