Lily was diagnosed with Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis (TEN) a rare and serious skin condition, likely caused by an allergic reaction to medication, but the cause isn't necessarily known for certain. TEN is characterized by severe skin blisters and peeling, leaving painful raw areas which are at risk of infection. It also affects the mucous membranes, including the mouth, throat, and eyes.
As of yesterday, doctors estimated that 90% of Lily's skin has been affected and the disease is still spreading on her body. TEN is extremely rare, and Lily's case is even more so because of its severity. She has been in a medically induced coma since Saturday January 28th, and will remain that way until at least next Monday when her bandages are changed and doctors are able to reassess her and be sure the disease is no longer spreading.
Jaquel has been off of work to stay with Lily day and night. Not only is her income affected, but she has added costs of paying for lodging nearby the hospital, and for meals. It will likely take weeks to recover, and the financial impacts, the loss of income and increased expenses, will only burden the Thompsons more, when their plate is already overflowing.
Please consider gifting any amount you are able to help ease the stress of battling this terrible disease. Lets help Lily get back to her fun loving, talented, sweet, and silly self
