Help Lily Boss-Bailey stay at The Lir & In Ireland
Donation protected
Hi there I’m Lily,
I’m an emerging queer neurodivergent Aussie artist that needs your help in securing the training that will provide me with the enrichment and skill to shape my ongoing career in the arts.
After four years of auditioning it is an honour to be offered a position in the full-time three-year conservatory training at The Lir Academy in Dublin Ireland. This non-deferrable course had upwards of 800 applicants vying for 16 spots, 8 female and only 2 international student positions. This offer is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I have completed my Foundation Diploma in Acting here and since September 2022 I have absolutely fallen head over heels for Dublin’s magic, its people and its spirit and am convinced that this is the school in which I will be able to flourish and be an asset in the room alongside my peers.
As someone who does not have connections within the industry, training is imperative not only for skill but for practical purposes also. This course would provide me with a genuine opportunity at securing representation that supports my vision ethically as an emerging artist.
But why do I need your help?
There are so many benefits to being an international student, I get to be challenged and infused by a different culture. However, this adventure to the land of expanded opportunity comes with awesome financial burden. As a non-eu individual (missing out on an Irish passport by one generation!) the fees are hiked at an exclusionary rate of 24,000 euro per year. With no government support (Irish or Australian) available and with the only international scholarship that Trinity College Dublin offers (their validating university) barring Acting students as well as the cruelty of the current cost of living crisis that many cities are feeling - funding my dream and fortifying the next stage in my career feels near impossible.
Which is why I turn to you. I would be immeasurably grateful for any donation that you are willing to make, or for even passing on this page to your network.
What will you be investing in?
As a writer/performer upon graduation I am interested in making work that speaks to people that have been left out or sidelined in the conversation on the human and planet’s condition. As well as facilitating programs that aid in making performance classes more accessible to young people and safe for our queer/neurodiverse up-and-coming ragamuffins.
My work is a four-legged tightrope walker my front feet tragedy and comedy - the hind legs, realism and absurdism. And who else really, to create that creature together than the jigging Irish and jiving Aussies.
Any donation meagre or mighty will be an incredible and generous help in getting me to The Lir.
Or
If the cost of living crisis has pranked you as much as it’s pranking me- any tips/tricks/resources/information on offer would be hugely appreciated. (Feel free to leave a comment to get in touch).
Or Even !
If you could share this page with every living soul that you have ever encountered (our goal is big net casting here) I would be ever-thankful - It’s a 22 hour flight from Perth to Dublin but the internet can traverse the globe in an instant.

And if you have made it this far, well done. Thank you !
