Help Lilou overcome Pectus Excavatum to dance again!

Dear friends and family,

-We are happy to share Lilou has been given an appointment for Tuesday the 11th of February 2025 in LOC Belfast.-

Lilou, my daughter has a passion for dancing, singing, fashion, and art, but her self-esteem has taken a hit due to her condition.

Lilou was born with Pectus Excavatum, also known as "sunken or funnel chest".

(...)It happens when the chest bone is pushed inwards by an overgrowth of cartilage between the ribs and the breast bone. The condition tends to become exaggerated during puberty where growth spurts cause the cartilage and bones to grow at a rapid rate. The sternum becomes caved in, looking “dented” or “sunken”. The ribs often tend to flare out as a result of the excavatum area sinking inwards. Scoliosis is also associated with the disorder.(...)

Because of the space her lungs have for expanding she experiences worsening chest pain, constant lightheadedness, and heart palpitations that make even simple activities feel overwhelming. Pectus escavatum also speeds up her metabolism, leaving her tired and drained. I am asking for your support to help her get the treatment she deserves, so she can express herself freely and reclaim her joy.

This affects not only her physical health but also her social life, School work and concentration, and mental well-being. She feels self-conscious about her flared ribs, and it breaks my heart to see her motivation for her creative pursuits dwindle.

I am reaching out with a heavy heart to share my daughter’s struggle with pectus escavatum, a condition that has put her vibrant life on hold. The treatment she needs is in Belfast and costs around £4500 plus transportation costs, a daunting amount for me as a single mom trying to support our family.
