Help Lilly Get Well

Can you help me get Lilly back on her feet?  Lilly was left home alone in December when her owner went into the hospital and then was moved to hospice. The owner's family didn't want her so she was by herself for 5 months. Someone would stop by once a day, family or a neighbor, to make sure she had food but other than that she was on her own.  When I realized they were leaving Lilly alone I asked if I could take her home to care for her.  I picked her up April 30 and May 1 I took her to the vet who told me Lilly has the worst case of valley fever she's ever seen. Based on medical records sent by Lilly's previous vet she has apparently had the disease at least since 2013 but was never tested, only symptoms for seizures and kidney disease were being treated. When I got her she was 29 lbs, about 11 lbs underweight.... literally skin and bones.  Lilly's blood work and other tests showed severe anemia, her little body wasn't making red cells, her kidneys were failing, her white count was off the charts, she had a severe eye infection, and a host of other less serious conditions as well as the valley fever.

The vet didn't tell me on that first visit that she didn't think Lilly would make it but when we went yesterday for a checkup on her eye Doc told me she was shocked and thrilled to see that Lilly was gaining weight, 2 lbs in 20 days.  That's when she told me that since Lilly is eating and gaining weight she actually has a chance to recover.

I have asked some of the local rescues for help because I can't afford the costs of caring for her on my own but no one wants her.  She's 10 years old, too sick for adoption, and the rescues have to put their money where it does the most good...getting healthy younger dogs into forever homes.  She's a really sweet girl and gets along with my other critters so I'd be happy to keep her if I can get help with her medical costs.  Getting her "well" is going to be a long term commitment because the valley fever went untreated for so long and her condition wasn't helped by her being left alone for months.

My critters and I have gotten her started on the road back to health.  She loves going to the dog park with us twice a day and is very social with both dogs and people although I think she still thinks my cats are play toys just for her. :D

We'd all be very grateful if you could help us, even a little bit, get this sweet pup healthy again.

Thank you so much for any help you can provide.
