Lilly is my 13-year-old rescue pittie and a beloved member of our family. She’s been with us through so much, and her feisty, sweet, and demanding personality has brought endless joy to our lives. Lilly is incredibly loving and adores everyone she meets, always protective and so good to her brother Morgan. Recently, Lilly started limping and, when it didn’t resolve, we took her for an x-ray on Tuesday 11/18, which showed concerning results. She then saw an orthopedist and had a CT scan on 11/20 at GSVS Woodbridge. We’re now facing the possibility that she has bone cancer. The next steps for her include surgery and chemotherapy, and the costs are quickly adding up.

Edit 11/25: Confirmed bone cancer; she had front limp amputation surgery at GSVS on 11/25. She is out of surgery in in recovery. <3

Despite everything, Lilly is otherwise doing well—she’s happy, eating, and sleeping comfortably. Her spirit remains strong, and she continues to bring joy to everyone around her.

We’ve always been committed to caring for my dogs, no matter what. My other rescue, Morgan, needed dual FHO surgeries for hip dysplasia just two months after I adopted him, and it took me years to pay off those bills. Lilly herself has had several emergency visits, including ultrasounds, and after a long search for answers, she was diagnosed with atypical Addison’s disease. Her ongoing care includes frequent bloodwork and monitoring. After Morgan needed TPLO surgery in November 2024, I had to make the difficult decision to cancel their Fetch insurance, which had become unaffordable, even though I’d kept it since 2014. I’m grateful to share that Morgan did great after his TPLO.

I am the person who always finds a way to make it work, but now I’m facing another significant medical bill for Lilly’s care.
