We are setting up this GoFundMe for Lillie, a beautiful 22-year-old young woman whose life has been turned upside down in a matter of days.
One night, Lillie went to sleep as normal but woke up with paralysis affecting the left side of her face. Initially diagnosed with Bell’s palsy by her GP, she was prescribed steroids and antiviral medication. However, just days later, Lillie lost her ability to speak and walk.
Lillie was admitted to Furness General Hospital, where she underwent numerous investigations. Following assessment by a neurologist, she was diagnosed with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND). During her admission, Lillie suffered multiple seizures a day, some leaving her unresponsive.
Lillie has now been discharged but remains unable to walk and has been referred for physiotherapy to help regain her mobility and independence, however they are currently unsure how affective this will be.
Although Lillie is strong-minded and has an incredible support network around her, this has understandably had a huge impact on her mental and emotional wellbeing, as well as her physical health. At just 22, facing such a sudden and life-changing condition is frightening and overwhelming.
This has also taken a significant toll on her family. Lillie currently requires 24-hour care, meaning her loved ones have had to take time off work to ensure she is safe and supported. This has placed additional emotional, practical and financial pressure on the family.
We are now hoping to get Lillie access to specialist FND care in Leeds. Unfortunately, she does not meet the threshold for the specialist service in Liverpool, meaning private consultation and rehabilitation are being explored as an alternative. This is where we need your help. ❤️
Donations will go towards funding Lillie’s private specialist consultations and rehabilitation, helping her access the expert support she needs to work towards regaining her speech, mobility and independence. Contributions will also help with travel to and from specialist appointments in Leeds, along with other essential treatment-related expenses.
With Lillie requiring round-the-clock care, fundraising will also help ease some of the financial strain on her family as they take time away from work to care for her and support her recovery.
Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help us work towards giving Lillie the best possible opportunity to access specialist care and rebuild her quality of life. If you are unable to donate, sharing this page would mean just as much.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for reading Lillie’s story and for any support you can offer.
Let’s come together to help Lillie get the specialist care she needs and give her hope for the future she deserves. ❤️
