Hi, my name is Debbie Rembulat-Saturno, and I am fundraising for my sister-in-law, Lilibeth Oh Rembulat, who is currently in Kalibo, Aklan, Philippines.
Our hearts are breaking as we share this. Lilibeth recently suffered sudden internal bleeding in the brain, a life-threatening emergency that required immediate brain surgery to save her life. Doctors had to open her skull to stop the bleeding. Without this operation, she would not have survived.
By God’s grace, the initial surgery was successful
However, due to severe brain swelling, the surgeons were unable to place her skull back. She will need a cranioplasty once the swelling subsides.
Just three hours after surgery, Lilibeth had to be rushed back to the operating theatre when her pupils became dilated, a critical sign requiring urgent intervention. She is now in the ICU under very close monitoring, and her condition remains critical but stable.
What Lies Ahead: Her Recovery Plan
Once Lilibeth stabilises, her journey to recovery will be long and challenging. Her doctors have advised the following plan:
• Continued ICU and hospital care until brain swelling fully subsides
• A cranioplasty surgery to safely replace the removed portion of her skull
• Close neurological monitoring, imaging, and medications to prevent complications
• A gradual transition to the ward once she is stable
• Rehabilitation and therapy, which may include:
• Physical therapy to regain strength and mobility
• Occupational therapy to relearn daily activities
• Speech and cognitive therapy, if needed
• Long-term medications and follow-up consultations with specialists
Lilibeth has endured an incredibly tough life. In November 2024, she lost her second child — a pain no parent should ever have to carry. In 2023, she also lost her beloved mother. The hardships never seemed to stop. Now, as she fights for her life, her family faces yet another devastating chapter.
Her eldest child, who works in a bank, is currently the sole provider for the family, as my brother is unable to work due to diabetes and chronic nerve pain. The financial burden of surgeries, specialist fees, hospital stays, medications, and long-term therapy is overwhelming.
The financial burden is overwhelming. The neurosurgeon’s fee alone is ₱500,000, and with ICU care, repeat surgery, hospitalisation, medications, rehabilitation, and ongoing therapy, the total medical expenses are expected to reach ₱1.5 million or more.
We are reaching out with humble hearts, asking for your help and prayers. Any amount—no matter how small—can make a life-changing difference. If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this page so it can reach others who may be able to help.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with us during this frightening and uncertain time. Your kindness, prayers, and generosity may help give Lilibeth the chance to heal, recover, and return to her family.
