My name is Brandon, and my wife Shelby and I are creating this GoFundMe for my daughter Lila and her horse, Tally.
Lila and Tally have been partners in rodeo for nearly 3 years. Lila rides and trains with Tally multiple times a week, and over that time they've built real trust and consistency together. They've been working hard through the years and are going to be taking the next step and starting high school rodeo this fall!
Watching our daughter grow and improve alongside Tally has been incredible. It's a testament to the hard work and effort she puts in. But another big part of their success is because of the kind of horse Tally is. Horses like Tally are rare and we know how lucky we are to have her.
Several days ago, Tally came down with a cough and a fever. We contacted our vet and began treating the symptoms. Her fever improved and she appeared to be getting better. A few days later, the fever returned and her coughing worsened. We reached out to our vet again to have her checked, as it was possible Tally had “choke,” an obstruction in the esophagus separate from the airway.
Before the vet arrived, Tally aspirated and went into shock.
This quickly went from treating a cough to a life threatening emergency. We immediately loaded her up and rushed her to the emergency vet. They were tremendous and stabilized her enough to get some of the blockage out and get her on oxygen.
Tally has a long road ahead of her, and so do we. The medical bills are piling up for the treatment. We've already paid $8,000 in emergency care, and the remaining treatment is estimated to bring the total to $25,000 or more.
We want to give Tally the best chance we can. If you’re able to help in any way, whether by donating or simply sharing this page, it would mean a lot to us. Every contribution goes directly toward Tally’s emergency treatment costs.
