Lilahs Fight With Cancer #2
Donation protected
Hello we are the Weiss Family. Chad (dad), Maddy (mom), and our sweet 17 month old daughter Lilah. As some of you may know, Lilah battled cancer in Aug 2023 - Dec 2023. She underwent surgery and chemotherapy and fought hard to beat it. After being cancer free for 5 months, we found out on May 10th 2024, that she has relapsed. The Cancer is back in the form of a large tumour in her chest once again. It's confirmed to be relapsed Neuroblastoma.
As you can imagine we are beyond devastated. Our lives were torn apart last August leaving our life behind in Vernon to fight in Vancouver. Since then we stayed with family to get our bearings together so we could go back to Vernon and start over and bring peace to our little family. However the weekend of our big move, we took Lilah in to BC Childrens as she was showing strange symptoms. They did an MRI and there showed the large tumour in her chest. Since then she's has Bone marrow biopsies, a tumour biopsy, an MIBG scan, and a central line surgery so she can receive treatment right away. She started frontline chemotherapy May 19th. We are still waiting on some results to give us more details.
As you can imagine our hearts are so broken. Knowing what the world of cancer is like and the pain and trauma Lilah will endure. We are also scared for the unknown of what relapsed cancer looks like. We are so grateful our community was able to help with funds last battle. We are truly thankful for every dollar. If you can't donate, we appreciate all the positive thoughts towards our girl and the continued love sent her way.
Funds will help with:
- Food costs for Maddy, Lilah, and Chad as they stay at BC Children's Hospital and RMH
- Medicine expenses (pain meds, antibiotics, g-csf, etc)
- Travel expenses: Chad will be travelling between the Okanagan and Vancouver every weekend so he can be with his family as much a possible.
- Unexpected expenses that may arise.
-Expenses for extra medical care during and post treatment.
Thank you everyone for the support. Lilah has so much fight in her and she will continue to battle her hardest.
If you are new to Lilahs story here's a recap of her initial diagnosis:
On August 10th 2023 Maddy took her precious 8 month old at the time, Lilah to emergency in Vernon because she had noticed her mobility had been declining. They ran tests to try and find the cause. The following morning she was airlifted to Vancouver Children's Hospital where she was given an MRI further investigate. Shortly after, they were given the devastating news that little Lilah had a tumor touching her spine. She was taken into surgery that night to alleviate the pressure on her spine in the hopes that she would regain mobility in the lower half of her body. Unfortunately, they were not able to remove the tumor in its entirety.
On August 15th 2023 Lilahs biopsy results came back, she has been diagnosed with Neuroblastoma.
Since then she went through 4 rounds of chemotherapy. Gained all her mobility back And in December 2023, she was deemed "Cancer Free".
The battle starts all over again but I know Lilah has so much fight in her.
Thank you.
