And then immediately scammed again for a second one, when someone smelled blood in the water; luckily, various friends pointed out that the video and ID were given to other people as part of the scam.

I am not clever. He was trusting me. We were both gorked out of $600ish apiece in toto. We've found a new room at the eleventh hour, but need to raise the capital for it, and I don't want him to suffer any more than is my fault. This is to pay for our share of an acquaintance's hotel couch, and another $75 I had to beg my landlord to wait for.

Skipping the con isn't a financially feasible option for me, he already came to America to stay for it (I learned of the first scam while he was on the plane) and I make my money in the artist's alley. This will hopefully help us to break even. We were absolutely spiraling.
