Let’s help Lila fight cancer

My name is Belinda. My friend Claire and I are raising money for one of our best friends, Chloe, and her daughter Lila who has a rare cancer.

Lila is a beautiful 3-year-old little girl who loves the colour purple, her baby dolls, her Raffys, and her two big sisters. Lila has recently been diagnosed with a rare, aggressive, and inoperable cancer at the base of her skull called Chordoma.

Unfortunately, there are no treatment options available for Lila’s type of cancer in Australia, and so this initiative is to raise money to allow Lila’s family to be by her side and cover their expenses in the US while she gets the life-saving treatment she needs.

 

Lila’s journey with Chordoma has so far been a difficult one for her and her family, with the diagnosis taking approximately 1.5 years with relentless tests, scans, surgeries and appointments. Chordoma is a rare cancer which affects 1 in one million people. It is even rarer in children, especially those under the age of five years, so this diagnosis has been a complete shock for the family and those around them.

Lila’s treatment in the US will involve six weeks of daily radiation therapy which is applied directly to her tumour. She will need to have around 30 general anaesthetics over the course of her treatment and then spend time recovering with her family. 

 

Anyone who knows Lila’s parents, Chloe and George, will know that they are both selfless, kind people and are always the first to help others in need. They are a community-minded family, involved in coaching and managing several girls’ soccer teams in Sydney, involved in their local school, and they always put their hands up to help when others are in need. Chloe has previously spearheaded several charitable fundraising events including raising money for a fairy garden to be created at the Sydney Children’s Hospital and coordinating donations for bushfire events.

Lila is a strong little fighter, if any little girl can do this – it’s her. We need your help to raise money for this smart, vivacious, and much-loved little girl to have her family around her during her treatment and to cover expenses during her recovery.
