Support Female Driven “Lil Hel” & its Film Festival Journey

My name is Joanna Clarke and I wrote, directed, and produced “Lil Hel.” A short film heavily influenced by the vibrant bubblegum horror genre and y2k aesthetics.

Hel finds herself in Hell and must find her way back home, but it will cost her. Luckily she meets some unlikely friends along the way. A few demonic femmes that will always have her back, even “after” life. And in the end, they help Hel get her sweet revenge. Let’s just say: “good for her.”

I have created this GoFundMe in the hopes of taking this wonderfully cathartic and cheeky dark comedy to film festivals across the country and maybe even to other countries.

It had its world premiere at Damnationland 2024, a Maine film festival loved by many local creatives and filmmakers. Our cast and crew had an amazing time sharing our work with the world and we’d love any more opportunities to do so.

My goal is to take “Lil Hel” to at least three more film festivals this coming year. I need some help financially doing so. The film is fully produced, however, I’m now looking for support in paying for application fees and any fees that may accrue if I attend these festivals as a filmmaker. It would mean a lot to be able to present my work in person, especially with such a female driven vision and outstanding creative team. Female representation in the arts matters and to celebrate with other female filmmakers would be a dream come true.

I’ve received such incredible feedback already and the best thing is, people really connect to this story. Making something beautiful out something bad can make an incredible impact.
