Gabby Pilgrim aka Lux aka Heavens Light is a beautiful person both inside and out who calls the PNW region home and has made quite a name for themselves in the arts, fashion, convention, and cosplay scenes. You can find them supporting their community at their job in a local comic book shop, supporting the arts by attending museum events at the MoPOP in Seattle. They were part of a legacy of student leadership that helped grow and evolve Chibi Chibi Con at the Evergreen State College and are a part of the team that helps bring LongCon to the Longview Public Library. They’re a household name in the Pacific Northwest cosplay lip sync community, best known for their debut performance as Powerline from the Goofy Movie – where they did indeed stand out above the crowd. And if you’re lucky, you may have had a chance to commission them for something amazing.
We are here to ask you to help bless this person who has been a blessing to so many others. Due to a chronic illness, Gabby needs everyone’s support now more than ever. For many years they have struggled with Crohn's disease as well as many other conditions have rendered them in a state of constant chronic pain. And now they are faced with yet another intestinal issue that requires another invasive surgery (*ileostomy reversal) and 6 month minimum recovery period due to their chronic illness. This has made it extremely difficult for them to maintain work at their current job due to extreme levels of pain, fatigue, and not having the medical supplies they need. This additional surgery should help with returning to a less strenuous lifestyle but it means an extended medical leave from work while they recover. So they will need funds for monthly expenses as well as paying for the part of the surgery, recovery tools that insurance isn't able to cover.
–Ileostomy: An ileostomy is a surgical procedure that creates an opening (stoma) in the abdominal wall through which the ileum, the last part of the small intestine, is brought to the surface. This allows a high output of waste products from the body to be collected in a bag attached to the stoma.
I’m here as a member of Gabby’s support network to reach out and appeal to you all as members of the greater community to give a little light back to someone who has shined so much for so many others.
The goals are:
Covering a portion living expenses
Putting funds aside for future medical appointments not covered by insurance
Survival Necessities
Helping alleviate some debt to ease the stress
Vehicle repairs for main mode of transport
To all those who have read this far, thank you. Your time, your shares, re-blogs, and donations are appreciated more than you would ever know. If you’ve ever had the opportunity to be blessed by heaven's light then now is the time to pay that blessing forward. It’s going to be a long road ahead but with your help it can be well illuminated. Please help us ease the strain on Gabby’s entire life.
Future updates will elaborate the medical struggles in more detail and will share some thoughts from Gabby herself. There will also be other avenues for people who want to show support in different ways.
Thank you again for your support!
