FOOD COOLER STORAGE FOR NATIVE ELDERS

Hi, my name is Morgan and my husband's name is Light Hunter. We have founded and operate a nonprofit in Arizona called LIGHT RANCH MISSION . We are a 501(c)3 public charitable, nonprofit organization.

LIGHT RANCH MISSION, is a non-profit for distributions of FREE Food and Essentials to Native Elders and their Families who need. Light Ranch Mission, has been holding distributions of Food and Clothing, and other Essentials for the surrounding Native Navajo and Hopi communities since January of 2020. Our main focus has been to help Native Elders and their families. Many of these elders and their families have no running water or electricity to their homes. Due to their resilience, kindness, and humble nature they may not ask for help. Through our distribution events, we have had others come to either our Mission location on US Highway 89 in Flagstaff, Arizona for logistical reasons and the ability to help more people at once. We have also had some limited opportunities to make direct deliveries ourselves and/or with the help of Volunteers.

WALK IN COOLERS
We have been able to feed 500+ families during each distribution that we have held at Light Ranch Mission. One of our challenges is that we have not had a way to store perishable food, only non perishable food, so when we receive fresh food for our distributions from the USDA we must distribute all food within 24 hours. We have been able to hold food distributions 1 - 2 times per month depending on how quickly we can distribute the fresh food. We have been in need of a way to store perishable food so we can hold food distributions and deliveries more often. We were fortunate to receive a generous donation of a large two door Commercial Walk in Cooler to store perishable food for our distributions to the Reservation. We relocated the cooler and had it installed in our Mission, however, we did not received the condensing units and evaporators to run the walk in coolers. The funds we are raising will be used to purchase two Compressors for the Cooler and related to its install and expansion remodel.
EXPANDING OUR FOOD DISTRIBUTIONS FOR NATIVE ELDERS AND THEIR FAMILIES We are seeking the resources to help expand our Food Ministries with the purchase of these much needed compressors. We need these funds as soon as possible as this will enable us to deliver more food and essentials to those in need, not excluding Native families living in remote areas.
OUTREACH We have had many kind and gracious people in the community who have helped us in this effort. We would like to expand our delivery outreach, with our main focus on families in remote areas, within a 50 mile radius such as Grey Mountain, Little Colorado River, Black Falls, and Grand Falls. Our purpose of the Light Ranch is to provide support of essentials to Native Elders of our nearby communities and to spread a message of hope to help lift their spirits during difficult times.
