Help Light Lonlon Farms

My name is Simon Tsike-Sossah, also known as Kojo. I am fundraising for my farm and business - Lonlon Farms & Services.
"Lonlon" is Ewe word for Love. Ewe is spoken in Sout-East of Ghana, Togo, right to Benin in West Africa. In the Mendeh language of Sierra Leone, it translates as "Shush"! So whether "Love or Shush", I seek make Lonlon Farms a place where one can find love or come for some quite!
I have always loved faming and being with and in nature but COVID opened my eyese and gave me the courage to become a full time farmer. Since 2019, I have been experimenting what I would do and in 2020, I figured what I wanted - to build a farm that will be a centre of learning for people seeking to venture into the agriculural industry. Sierra Leone has a budding agriculutral industry with little or no extension services to farmers or accessible learning centre for the public.

Lonlon Farms seeks to be all that - opened to the public, espcially children and young people from 0-18years, to learn everything about agriculuture. From fish farming, to livestock to crops/plants! And for outdoor lovers, we will be adding camping platforms across the farm.

Just 4 acress with a potential to grow to 6-acres, we are excited to be positioing ourselve as the only insnsively farmed small scale peri-urban farm in Sierra Leone; a first of its kind. Lonlon farm is only about 2-hours outside Freetown the capital and 3-4 hours from most major cities across the country making it an excellent spot for schools to organise excursions and activities.

To make this dream complete, I seek your help to put a solar system at the farm. It will compliment the 4 bedroom farm/guest house I have constructed and the accompanying camping platforms that will come up. The solar system will power our hand-dug well, light the house, help us water crops and care for farm animals all through the year and more importantly, provide security for the entire farm.

On August 21, 2022, I will turn 44 years and I will like you to donate towards our $7000 (€6,500) 3KVa solar system.

The money will fund the solar system and it will be installed by Women in Energy Sierra Leone, a women run renewable energy business.

I will recieve the funds on behalf of Lonlon Farms & Services, in return, the business will within a year of installation build a milling centre at the farm for the community of Mabrown, where the farm is located. We will also make power accessible to the community to charge their phones and other equipments at 30% cheaper rate. We will also provide tool sharpening services (hoes, cutlasses, axes, etc) also at reduced rates which will stop them to travel more than 3 miles to sharpen their tools.

But the greater benefit will be all the hundreds of children and young people that we hope will benefit from learning about farming and the small farmers we will be supporting to farm more effectively and efficiently through the leanring we produce.
