If you know Sumi Flanagan, you know her heart for others. She’s spent her life serving, encouraging, and showing up for people in need—often before they even asked. Now, she’s facing a season where she needs us to show up for her.

While wrapping up Youth for Christ’s General Assembly conference in Amsterdam, Sumi began feeling unwell. By the time she reached Prague, her condition had worsened significantly. Thanks to caring friends—one a registered nurse—she was able to get home and straight to the ER. There, doctors discovered she had Influenza A, pneumonia, and a severe bacterial infection in her leg.

She spent six days in the hospital and went home with oxygen and strong antibiotics. But the challenges didn’t end there. Sumi has since been diagnosed with serious heart problems and still requires oxygen. Many days, simply leaving the house is exhausting. Work is nearly impossible, and her savings have been depleted.

Imagine facing mounting bills, essential medical needs, and day-to-day expenses—without the ability to work. The stress alone can be overwhelming, and as we know, stress is not kind to the heart.
