Darren, was recently hospitalized after what they found out was fluid in his lungs and his heart being enlarged due to him being in heart failure

His heart failure was a result of a blood clot in one of his heart valves. His heart was no longer pumping blood to his body which caused fluid to accumulate in his lungs and his heart to be enlarged

Last week Darren was given a strong blood thinner called tPA to try and break up the blood clot in his heart valve — although this medication did work and his heart is doing much better, the blood clot broke off and moved to his brain causing him to have 3 strokes within the time that they were trying to break up the blood clot in his heart. His right side was affected causing him to lose some mobility in his right arm/hand & leg/foot. The process to see how his body recovers will take time, and the understanding of the impact of the strokes are still not fully known

Darren has now spent a lot of time in the hospital - fighting hard to stabilize. While we don’t yet know the full scope of his road ahead, we do know that he’s facing a long journey toward healing

Autumn (his mom) has been in Cincinnati by his side 24/7 while taking time away from work and uncertainty about what comes next or when they will be discharged - we ask for your support ❤️ allowing her to focus on his recovery at Cincinnati Children’s without the added stress of financial worries
