Help Mom's Lifesaving Covid Emergency Philippines
We are trying to help raise funds to save our friend's mother (Estrella Delos Reyes) in the Philippines. She has critical Pneumonia from Covid-19 and is in ICU in Ace Medical Center, Bohol Island. The hospital has suspended treatment until a progress payment is made, so this is an emergency call for help, so treatment can continue as each hour/day is crucial to surviving. Unfortunately, the Philippines does not have free medical care as we do in the UK, so survival is dependent on funds to pay for the medication and treatment required. An appeal has already been made to the hospital but to no avail, the processes are crazy compared to the UK, people are dying waiting for hospital spaces, meds & breathing equipment to become available and those without money have a slim chance of survival. EVERYTHING has to be paid for, every medicine, dressing, meal, even the PPE that staff wear each time they come to a patients room to check their vitals! The bill just mounts up and treatment is suspended if stage payments are not made.
Their mother had to wait 3 days for a space to become available at a hospital with an ICU dept., during this time she nearly died but thankfully she held on and is still fighting and there is a good chance she can make it if she gets the necessary medication and treatment in time.
Our friend Cherie and her family are very kind, always helping others even with the little they have. Cherie is selfless and works so hard to support her family, even through so many other difficult situations, she keeps going. The hardships that people suffer daily in 3rd world countries are nothing that we could imagine here in the UK…
It is hurting to see what she is going through. Cheries mum Estrella Delos Reyes is 67 years old but somehow has been battling through things, she needs specific medicines and treatments to give her a chance of survival. Even a small token donation from a few people, would make a MASSIVE difference to her mum's chances of recovery. Right now, Cherie is distraught attending to her mum 24/7 as there are not enough hospital staff for the patients (people can only be admitted if they have a companion to take care and monitor them). They cannot even relax and focus on recovery because of the stress of not knowing how they will get the funds needed to pay the hospital, so they can proceed with treatment.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE give a little and share. The price of a snack, coffee or takeaway could help save a LIFE. If people come together, then all these small tokens can help Cherie and her family in this urgent time of need.
Funds raised will be used to pay for the following:
> Ace Medical Center Hospital Bill so far (see photo below), this bill increases daily whilst treatment is ongoing. The hospital supplies meds such as: Lindezolid vials, Remedesvir, Dexamethasone, Lovinox, Noepinephrine, Dextromethorphan & Norgesic
> Purchase of medication NOT available at the hospital as some crucial medicines are sold out and the hospital advises to buy these in other locations and bring them back to be administered at the hospital (see example photos below)
> Hemoperfusion sessions to eliminate pro-inflammatory cytokines and improve clinical status in severe Covid patients and prevent multiorgan dysfunction https://researchinfotext.com/article-details/Blood-Hemoperfusion-Therapies-in-COVID-19
> Holy Name University Medical Center Hospital Bill (see photo below)
PLEASE, please, please any help would be greatly appreciated. Please SHARE, your support can save a life.

INFO:
Severe COVID-19 typically presents as acute pneumonia, but some patients develop a dysregulated immune response characteristic of sepsis1. In the context of infection, an overwhelming hyperinflammatory response is often termed a ‘cytokine storm’ or cytokine release syndrome (CRS). CRS is characterized by high levels of circulating pro-inflammatory cytokines (e.g. IL-1β, IL-6 and tumour necrosis factor) and is associated with worsening of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Although release of pro-inflammatory cytokines can be an appropriate response to severe infection, an exaggerated response is likely responsible for multiple organ dysfunction. High levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines correlate directly with the severity of lung injury in patients with severe COVID-19 and CRS is associated with multiorgan dysfunction, including acute kidney injury (AKI). CRS results in organ dysfunction and tissue damage by promoting endothelial dysfunction and microvascular and macrovascular thrombosis, which is a widely reported phenomenon in patients with COVID-19.
