Our friend’s sailing catamaran, Life Of Pi, tragically caught fire at 2 AM on Thursday, November 13, in San Blas, Panama, and eventually sunk. There were four people on board when the fire broke out, Polina and Igor, their 2 and half year old son, and their friend Elli. The husband, Igor, suffered severe burns while trying to fight the fire. He is currently hospitalized in Panama City and will have a long recovery. The family’s dog, Denali, sadly did not survive the fire.

Polina and Igor have lost everything. They were live aboard cruisers, so this boat was their home, their vehicle, and their livelihood. I cannot imagine how traumatic this has been for them. Not only to lose your home/boat, and all your possessions in a fire, but also to be stranded in another country with nothing. Our heart goes out to this family and we are doing everything we can to help support them during this time. The family has asked for privacy as this has been very traumatic for them. 

I also want to add, they did not ask for a fund raiser. We started this process because we want to help them any way we can.
