(UPDATES ARE ADDED TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE)
My name is T.J. I am Shane's older sister. I put together this page to let others know of the trials my brother's sweet family is walking through. This page is to help connect with people who want to come alongside them during this time. It lets people know what to pray for and have a place to help them financially.
Their Story...
On June 16, 2022, an ambulance raced to Shane & Angie Andreasen's home. Shane had been working from home, alone, when suddenly, without warning, he blacked out & collapsed to the floor. He fell, hitting his head on his little daughter's doll house near his work desk. When he awoke, he was terrified to discover he could not move his left side.
Eventually his body began to work, and he could call his wife, Angie. She called 911 and an ambulance came and brought Shane to the Brookings Emergency Room.
After emergency support, various tests showed 5 marks on his brain & a hole was also discovered in his heart.
After a few days, he was released from the hospital. Doctors sent him home with a heart monitor in place to record heart activity & medication to prevent potential blood clotting, which could damage his brain further. He will have ongoing testing & likely heart surgery to patch the discovered hole. Prayers are asked for doctors to have wisdom & Shane to be ok during this waiting period.
As some family & friends know, this shocking incident is another blow to their little family, who has already been navigating Angie's serious medical problems. Angie suffered a blacking-out incident with her eye while looking in the mirror in January 2022. She has had ongoing migraines, fatigue, and dizziness. Medical testing revealed a myriad of brain lesions, leading to even more testing. The testing continues, but doctors are leaning toward an MS diagnosis.
The family is asking for continued prayers and gives thanks for everyone who has prayed & shown support to their family during this trying season. Their faith that God is walking with them through these dark valleys holds them up and gives them hope. They know He will not leave their side in their time of need & trials.
Due to both Shane & Angie having medical bills, the burden has become too much for a sole-income earner. Angie has interviewed for work and accepted a job. This means she will not be able to homeschool her two daughters Selah (age 10) and Emma (age 7), this year. She has shared with me that this is one of her greatest sadnesses, as she loves spending that time with her children and investing in their futures by homeschooling.
Their current insurance has a $5,500 deductible for EACH of them. This means they owe $11,000 out of pocket for last year. Their insurance has reset in July, which means they will have to pay up to an additional $11,000 this year for the deductible.
I have set the goal at $11,000 to help offset the deductible.
Both of them will have continued testing, medication, possible surgery, and ongoing medical expenses that come with a long-term illness (in Angie's case).
Please consider blessing them with your prayers, cards, meals, care and/or finances... however the Lord would lead! Thank you, and God bless you!

UPDATES
UPDATE: October 1, 2022
-Shane had his doctor appointment on Sep 26, where they used a scope to look further into his heart issue. They found that the ATRIAL SEPTUM FLAPS DUE TO THE HOLE DISCOVERED EARLIER. It is fixable and needs to be fixed. The appointment is still being determined.
-Angie had a doctor's appointment the same day. Her Neurologist has said that she has "Radiologically Isolated Syndrome." They will continue to monitor her health regularly, continually watching for MS.
UPDATE: August 9, 2022
-Shane has an appointment with the cardiologist at the end of September. The Dr. will use a scope to look closely at his heart issue. Prayer that they will find and resolve his heart issue!
-The family has enrolled the girls in a Christian School near their home for this school year. They have applied for a scholarship but have paid the enrollment fee in full. They ask for prayer while they await hearing if they will receive the scholarship.
-Angie is working full-time from home. Her migraines continue to plague her daily, starting in the afternoon and continuing until she goes to bed. Prayers for strength and grace in dealing with daily pain.
UPDATE: July 2022
-Angie had another Lumbar puncture, and her Neurologist diagnosed her with the beginning stages of MS. He also diagnosed her with Chronic Migraine. Time and continued testing will hopefully lead to more answers for her.
