Hi, my name is Liana. On November 24th while I was at work, I got a call that changed my life forever. Adrian told me the house was on fire and that it was really bad and I should come home. I dropped everything and ran. I didn’t even think — the only thing in my head was my mouse, Chris Brown, alone in my room with no way out.

By the time I got there, the entire street was filled with smoke. I couldn’t get inside. I stood there sobbing, shaking, terrified, begging the firefighters to please try to save him. He was in my burning room for over an hour. ( the wall behind him completely burned and so did the dresser under him) When they finally came out holding his tiny, soot-covered body, I broke down. He survived — scared, shaking, but alive — and he’s all I have left.

But everything else is gone.

My entire room burned.

All of my clothes.

My bed.

My electronics.

My comfort items.

Every single thing I owned — gone in minutes while I was trying to run home.

Now I have no home, nowhere stable to sleep, no belongings, and no way to get to work. My dreams of going back to college for nursing school are shattered. I used to walk, but now I don’t even have a place to get ready, shower, or keep my things. I’m terrified of falling behind, losing my jobs, and not being able to take care of myself or my brave pet mouse Chris Brown.

My best friend Adrian was also affected and now has nowhere stable to live either. We are literally homeless. So the two of us — and my mouse — are trying to figure out how to survive day by day without a home, without essentials, and without any idea where we’re going to end up. We are starting from zero.

I’m trying to stay strong, but this is the most overwhelming thing I’ve ever lived through. Starting from absolute zero is something I would have never imagined like I really never thought I’d go through this.

What your help will go toward:

• Emergency housing so we’re not sleeping from place to place

• Food and essentials (clothes, shoes, toiletries, everything burned)

• A new setup for Chris Brown, who lost his entire tank and supplies

• Transportation for me so I can get to work and not lose my jobs

• Rebuilding the everyday necessities that were completely destroyed in the fire

I hate asking for help, but right now, I truly have nothing. I don’t know where we’re going to live. I don’t know how to get to work. I’m scared and exhausted and trying not to fall apart.
