Help my Grandson Liam get the treatment he needs
Donation protected
As difficult as it is to ask for help, I am reaching out to anyone who sees this post - whether family, friend, acquaintance or perfect stranger who is willing to help little Liam with whatever you can spare. The hardest thing for a parent to have to do is leave a hospital with their child, unable to provide the medication or care that he needs. That is what Liam's parents had to do this past week and so I am doing whatever I can to help.
Liam was born on May 3rd and his family was overjoyed to welcome this beautiful boy into their family. Liam faced immediate transfer to the NICU after it was revealed he had a cleft palate. By the time Liam was a few weeks old, he was dealing with hearing loss and was failing to thrive. After an MRI was ordered by his ENT, his family received a devastating blow - Liam was suffering from Lissencephaly (Click link to learn about Lisssencephaly). At just 4 months old, Liam has had numerous hospitalizations - most recently this past week after suffering infantile spasms and seizures. Liam will soon have surgery to move his feeding tube from the nose to his abdomen, as well as having tubes put in his ears to help with the hearing aids. Liam's parents have been working to provide for Liam's needs while trying to keep an income coming in and caring for their other seven children. They left the hospital this week without the medication they were told that Liam needs because the cost was $240,000.
The immediate need cannot be overstated. I am are simply trying to get Liam the help he needs NOW while his parents work through the system of applying for assistance, grants, etc. All are trying to prevent Liam from suffering any further damage from not being on the needed medication at this time. I realize that this is a lofty goal but at this point - anything can help to provide medication day to day. In addition to medication, we hope to assist the family in the long term with the growing medical costs.
Liam is lucky to have been born into a loving family with two hard-working parents, 7 siblings who love him beyond belief, and an extended family who are doing all they can to help provide for this beautiful gift and his family. We simply need help. If you find it in your heart to help in any way, we cannot thank you enough.
Finally, please share this with your friends and family so we can reach as many people as possible since the need is so immediate.
