This is our baby boy Liam! A little over a week ago he was rushed to the emergency room and diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Two days later they denied his renewal for Medicaid. We want to be able to give him the best “new normal” life we are able to while keeping him healthy but this disease is very scary and unpredictable. After doing some research we found service dogs who seem to be a life saver with children who are type 1. They are able to detect high and low blood sugars even before a monitor can and with him being so young he doesn’t always express or even know when something is wrong. This is an out of pocket cost and very expensive, but we believe it is worth every penny being able to know Liam has someone by his side always looking out for him. He is by far the strongest 3 year old we know but as a parent watching your baby try to overcome being poked and taking shots multiple times a day is heartbreaking. We believe this is the best way to help him in his journey. With Gods grace and the help of people who know and love Liam, we believe we can get this done for him!
