My name is Joseph Matchett, and I am a single father to my 7-year-old son, Liam. I have always been Liam’s only full-time caregiver, and he is my whole world. Recently, our lives were turned upside down when Liam experienced brain swelling that led to an emergency shunt revision. Watching my little boy go through emergency surgery again was one of the hardest moments of my life. He is now recovering, and I am so grateful that he made it through. But while Liam was still recovering, our family was hit with another medical crisis. I became seriously ill after what doctors believe was an unknown infection that attacked my lungs. During testing, doctors found a growing mass in my upper trachea/lung area that is pressing against my windpipe and causing major breathing problems, even with light day-to-day activity. I am still awaiting a biopsy scheduled for May 27th to determine exactly what we are facing. Between Liam’s emergency surgery and now my own serious health crisis, I have been unable to work. As Liam’s only caregiver, this has placed us in a very difficult situation financially while we try to focus on healing and getting answers. We are asking for help with basic living expenses, medical-related costs, transportation, bills, and support during this incredibly difficult time while I recover and continue medical testing. If you feel led to help, any donation—no matter how small—would mean so much to us. If you are unable to give, prayers and sharing our story would be a blessing. Even in the middle of this storm, I believe God is making a way, even when we can’t see it yet. Thank you for taking the time to read our story, pray for us, and support Liam and me during this season. With gratitude, Joseph & Liam
