Update 07/16/2025 :
Liam is now home from the hospital, and his surgery on July 12th to implant a defibrillator was successful. We are so grateful for this step forward. While he is still in pain and facing a long road of recovery: including cardiac rehabilitation, trauma support, and follow-up care, having him home with us feels like a true miracle.
That said, we are still in need of support as we navigate this new chapter. Funds are still needed to help us cover the cost of a trained cardiac medical alert dog, continued therapy for our family, and essential living expenses while I remain Liam’s full-time caregiver.
Thank you for continuing to stand by us. Your love, support, and prayers truly mean the world.
Help My Husband Liam Recover and Support Our Family’s Healing After Sudden Cardiac Arrest
My name is Sierra Candelet . Two weeks ago on June 30th, my worst nightmare came true.
I’m reaching out with a humble heart as our family begins to adjust to a life-altering experience.
My husband Liam (28): a proud Air Force veteran, incredible father, and the strongest, most loyal, and caring man I know, suffered a sudden and unexpected cardiac arrest in his sleep. One moment we were lying beside each other, and the next, I was performing CPR as our 5-year-old son, Avery, watched in fear and prayed with me for his daddy to survive.
Liam has no medical history. He doesn’t smoke, drink, or use drugs. he’s truly the healthiest person I know. By the grace of God, my quick action and the incredible team at Henderson Hospital saved his life. He’s now out of the ICU and recovering in intermediate care. On July 12, 2025, he’s scheduled for surgery to implant a defibrillator, followed by weeks of inpatient rehab, home therapy, and continued follow-up care.
Thanks to his 100% VA disability status, much of his hospital care is covered. However, the hidden costs of this crisis are mounting:
• Loss of income while I stay by Liam’s side full-time
• Mental health therapy for me, Liam, and Avery, who witnessed it all
• A trained cardiac/PTSD medical alert dog to support Liam’s long-term recovery
• Daily living expenses that don’t pause during a crisis
Liam has always been the rock of our family, especially during my own health challenges. Now it’s my turn to be his.
Our lives have changed forever. While we don’t know exactly what lies ahead, we do know we can’t do this alone.
We’re hoping to raise $10,000 to cover lost wages, trauma therapy, the cost of a service dog, and essential living support during this transition. Every donation, every share, and every prayer truly makes a difference.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your love, support, and kindness.
