Help Lia Nurture Orphaned Wildlife
Donation protected
My name is Lia and I own and run ParkHill Wildlife Rehab in Vermont. I take in about 30 raccoons a year that have been orphaned and raise to release in the wild around October. I specialize in rabies vector animals but I also do other mammals. I have had bobcat, beaver , squirrels, porcupines, opossum, skunks, mink, weasels, fox and woodchuck. All are so interesting. These animals do not stand a chance without us. There are currently only 4 of us in the state of Vermont licensed to do this. We pay for all food, lodging and vaccines out of our own pocket. This is an act of love. It is stressful trying to feed 15 babies at a feeding from a bottle. But I do this because I want to give back to the earth that gives us so much. To me, these efforts are what make us human. Others give time, money or choose to focus on helping others in crisis or less fortunate. I commend all of us that give back. If we all do our small part , the world becomes a wonderful place to live.
If you can give, then please do. If you can’t, then find a way to give back some other way. Make cookies for your neighbor or spending time with an elderly person who is alone.
Thank you to all my fellow humans on this journey we call life.
