It is with a heavy heart that we are sharing our sweet and amazing Lia Ray has once again been diagnosed with cancer. Stage IV Triple Positive Breast Cancer is a rare and aggressive form of breast cancer that affects less than 15% of all breast cancer patients. Treatment starts this upcoming week. What we know at this time is she will undergo months of chemotherapy, other cancer fighting medications, radiation and then remain on cancer therapies until they no longer work and new treatments have to be sought out.
Lia is no stranger to cancer. At the age of 30, she was diagnosed with breast cancer, which she fought hard and thankfully won. This experience led her to create Ray of Sunshine Equestrian Therapy, a non profit that supports others dealing with cancer with the use of horse therapy. Through her organization she has helped and connected with hundreds of families fighting their own battles. Using her own experience dealing with cancer she has devoted her incredible energy to provide a safe and soothing therapy that allows others to escape the devastating process that cancer has on those inflicted with the disease. Lia is an advocate in the cancer community and has many affiliates that allowed her to share her story for the benefit of others.
Sadly Lia is no longer able to work due to extreme pain and the risk of illness along with cancer fighting treatments. In addition she will need to take a leave from her active role with Ray of Sunshine in order to focus on her battle ahead. Ray of Sunshine Equestrian Therapy will continue with the help of the devoted board members and the ranch hands.
We are asking for donations to help offset Lia's extremely high medical bills, deductible, copays, prescriptions and the cost of regular living expenses. No amount is too small. This fund has been created in an effort to help Lia so she can focus solely on fighting and beating cancer again.
Thank you all for the thoughts, prayers and kind words at this time. Please feel free to spread the word and share Lia's story with your friends, family and others.
