Help Lhiza & Kids REBUILD After Devastating Apartment Fire
Donation protected
On March 29th, a kitchen fire tore through the apartment of our dear friend, Lhiza Bascones, turning her family’s life upside down in a matter of minutes.
While Lhiza Bascones was at work and her son was away at a tournament, the fire broke out unexpectedly. Thanks to a calm and quick 911 call and fast action by her youngest daughter, their beloved dog was rescued, and everyone made it out safely — but the damage to their home was devastating.
The fire has since been ruled undetermined by the Oakland Fire Department, and all stove knobs were confirmed to be off — meaning this tragic event was completely unforeseen. Unfortunately, while insurance will help cover the property, it doesn’t cover the moving costs, temporary housing, food, or storage — the immediate essentials they desperately need.
Their apartment is now uninhabitable, and the family is displaced, without access to their home, clothing, or basic needs.
Lhiza Bascones is a single mom who gives her all to her children. She’s hardworking, nurturing, and deeply spiritual — always showing up for others in her community and through her healing work. Now, she’s the one in need of love and support.
We’re raising funds to help her and her kids get through the next two weeks as they:
• Find safe temporary housing (hotel stay)
• Cover daily food and necessities
• Pay for moving help and storage of what can be salvaged
If you feel called to help — with a donation, a share, or even a kind message — it will mean the world. Every bit helps this beautiful family begin to heal and rebuild after this traumatic loss.
Thank you for your support and love.
With gratitude,
Jennifer Rivera
