Lezlie’s Story: A Long, Unexpected Medical Journey
On March 14, 2025, Lezlie’s life was unexpectedly and drastically changed by emergency surgery. She underwent a procedure that resulted in the complete removal of her large intestine. This critical surgery saved her life, but it was only the beginning of a long, painful, and financially devastating journey toward recovery.
Since that initial operation, she has faced immense challenges. Complications from the surgery, along with a protracted recovery process, have prevented her from being able to work or maintain a steady income. Every step of the way has been a battle—both physically and financially.
The Financial Strain and Ongoing Fight
The costs associated with this chronic condition have mounted quickly. While insurance covers a portion of the expenses, the specialized care, medications, supplies, and countless doctor visits not fully covered have created a significant financial burden.
In an effort to regain some normalcy and the ability to work, she pursued a second, complex surgery aimed at reconnecting her bowels. Tragically, this procedure was unsuccessful. The failed attempt not only added to her medical debt but also led to a new, life-threatening crisis.
She then faced a third emergency surgery—a procedure critical to saving her life a second time on December 5, 2025. While she placed her faith in God, this surgery proved absolutely necessary to stabilize her condition and give her a chance at long-term survival and recovery.
This GoFundMe campaign is aimed at raising $20,000 to cover the escalating costs associated with these three major surgeries and the ongoing care that followed. Donations will directly contribute to:
Outstanding Medical Bills and Collections: Clearing existing debt from the surgeries and recovery periods.
Essential Supplies & Medication: Purchasing critical, long-term medical supplies and prescription medications not fully covered by insurance.
Loss of Income: Providing a minimal safety net to help with basic living expenses (rent, utilities, food) while she is completely unable to work during this intensive period of recovery.
Every share, prayer, and donation brings her one step closer to focusing entirely on healing and fighting to rebuild her life. She and Jake are deeply grateful for every bit of compassion, generosity, and kindness offered in this desperate time.
