Help Lezli (Eckert) Kemme Fund Her Liver Transplant
Our best friend Lezli (Eckert) Kemme is fighting a battle that no person should have to fight – the fight of stage 4 cirrhosis of the liver due to fatty liver disease. For years, Lezli has been dealing with symptoms caused by the disease without any of her doctors putting the pieces together for a full diagnosis. A few months ago, Lezli was finally referred to a doctor who solved the puzzle. Unfortunately, by then Lezli was already at stage 4 cirrhosis of the liver and her liver was beyond repair. Lezli had to undergo a full liver transplant.
Since her diagnosis, Lezli has been admitted to Henry Ford Hospital for several days (multiple times) to meet her liver transplant team and to undergo a battery of tests to determine whether the rest of her organs are viable for the liver transplant to occur. The liver transplant team consists of 12 different disciplines including surgeons, hematology, gastroenterology, cardiology, nutrition, and several more. The tests included countless procedures, including blood tests, ultrasounds, EGD's, X-rays, echocardiograms, and many more. Organ(s) viability was determined, and she was then put on the liver transplant list. She received that blessed call on July 17th and is currently in recovery from her full liver transplant on July 18th.
Lezli is taking all of this with a level of strength that leaves us in awe. She’s still smiling. She’s still laughing, even though there will be a long recovery ahead.
We have started this Go Fund Me fundraiser to ease the burden for Lezli and her husband Joe. (Unfortunately, Lezli was laid off from her job several months ago, so they are currently living on one income.) Over the past days, weeks, and months they have had to be at countless doctor appointments (GR and Detroit), hospital stay(s) and surgery. As you can imagine, in addition to the normal costs of everyday living (mortgage, food, gas, car, utilities, etc.) the medical costs are astronomical.
This Go Fund Me fundraiser will enable Lezli to be able to concentrate on her recovery.
From the bottom of our hearts, we humbly ask that you share this link with friends and family and if possible, give to the cause (any amount will help). If you prefer – you can also give anonymously.
We thank you for your support and God bless each and every one of you!!!
