Hello! My name is Leyla. I’m a 21-year-old neurodivergent, nonbinary transfeminine person from Morocco, and I’m reaching out for your support as I take my first steps toward medical transition.

I’ve recently made the decision to begin my transition, but I’m facing financial difficulties that make this journey particularly challenging. Between the cost of medication, medical appointments, blood tests, and other essential expenses, pursuing my transition while being financially dependent on my family is proving difficult.

Living as a trans person in Morocco comes with countless challenges and risks that we face every day. From harassment by strangers in the streets to the constant dehumanization and vilification of our identities, and sometimes even rejection by our own families, navigating life as a trans person can be exhausting and frightening.

Beyond the way society treats us, there is also the deeply personal struggle of being transgender: the distress of experiencing a disconnect between our bodies and our identities, and the helplessness that comes with wanting to change that reality but lacking the means to do so. In Morocco, access to gender-affirming healthcare is extremely limited, and the lack of accessible, appropriate medical support leaves many of us feeling as though we have little choice but to navigate our transitions on our own, often without adequate medical guidance.

I currently live with my parents in a lower-middle-class household, and my family has been experiencing financial difficulties of its own. At the same time, I’m struggling to find suitable employment that would allow me to support my transition independently. I’m also working toward continuing my education and obtaining a master’s degree, which makes it difficult to dedicate myself fully to a job right now.

That’s why I’m asking for your help.

Every contribution will bring me one step closer to being able to pursue my transition and build a life in which I can feel safer, more comfortable, and more at peace with myself. The funds raised will go toward:

•⁠ ⁠Hormone replacement therapy (HRT): medication and other necessary supplies.

•⁠ ⁠Laser hair removal: sessions to help alleviate gender dysphoria and feel more comfortable in my body.

•⁠ ⁠Blood tests: essential monitoring of my health throughout my transition.

•⁠ ⁠Medical appointments: consultations and professional guidance to help me navigate my transition as safely as possible.

•⁠ ⁠Potentially moving out: saving toward greater independence and, if circumstances allow, a safer and more supportive living environment.
