Help Lexie Get Life-Saving Liver Surgery

Donation protected
To all who love Lexie near and far,

It's with a severely stressed out and heavy heart that we ask for help with our beloved pooch's surgery. After a regular check up for vaccines in early August, our vet noticed a mass on her abdomen. We swiftly took her to get an ultrasound and the exam revealed a large 8cm mass on her liver (wow, impressive Lexie!).

The next step is an expensive CT scan to determine whether it is cancer, followed by immediate surgery to remove it (pending if the mass is a curable cancer via surgery).

The bad news? It's expensive! The good news? The vet is optimistic that it is not cancer due to her health, lack of symptoms and since the mass has not spread elsewhere. We are confident it is benign, but only testing + surgery will fully determine that. With surgery like this, it is important to get it removed or the dog risks a burst tumor/internal bleeding which is usually fatal. Or - if it is a localized cancer, she has a great chance at full recovery/being cured!

Lexie is 14 years young! She is vibrant, healthy (other than the large tumor of course... thanks Lexie) and we would love another 5+ years with her (she's a chi-terrier mix and this guys can live a very long life if healthy).

Lexie came into our lives in a very unique way. We adopted her after my boyfriend's (Ben) mom suddenly passed away. She has been a huge light for us during a very difficult time and brings us unlimited joy every single day. Lexie was Ben's mom's best friend - and she has quickly turned into ours. She is a connection between my boyfriend and his mom - and we are honored that we get to continue to give her all the love she deserves.

Unfortunately, we’re facing these medical costs at a very tough moment. My boyfriend recently was let go from his stable job and is struggling to find new work despite applying constantly, while trying to make ends meet with freelance projects (that aren't always consistent). We simply don’t have the financial means right now to give Lexie the urgent care she needs.

Every little bit helps....whether it’s a donation or just sharing this campaign with others. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping us fight for Lexie and giving her the chance to keep being the bright, loving soul she is in our lives.

The estimated cost for her care is around $3,000–$3,500.
This would include CT scan, testing for cancer and all costs included in her surgery (medication, biopsy, etc.)

With gratitude,
Madeleine, Ben and Lexie
