This gofundme is for a dear friend of mine and her boyfriend, Pat.  They recently lost their little girl Athena.  Lexi and Pat found out that they were pregnant in February.  Soon after they found out they started to plan for their little girl who was to come October 5th 2020.  For Lexis' 30 week check up they decided to get a 3D ultrasound.  One of the best days of their lives would soon turned into one of the most painful experience that would change their lives forever.  During the 3D ultrasound the Doctor discovered that baby Athena's kidneys were enlarged and were not producing any urine. Athena was then diagnosed with a rare kidney disease called ARPKD. ARPKD effects 1 in 20,000 fetus'.  For the next few weeks they ha d to go several high risk doctors and got referred to go see a specialist in Utah. After seeing the a fetal group that works with genetic disorders and high risk pregnancies they told Lexi and Pat the worst news any parent could ever face. They told them that their baby would not live for much longer and they would have to perform a C-section at 33 weeks due to how fast baby Athena's kidneys were developing.  So they went ahead and scheduled the C-section for 3 weeks out.  In that time Lexi had to have 2 shots two days in a row to help develop Athena's lungs.  This was 5 days before she would have her c-section.  Then the time came and they went in and had baby Athena at 10:15am. Lexi and Pat got to spend 5 hours with their precious baby girl.  This was hard for them but they are glad they had time with her.  Athena took her last breaths in her moms arms and passed away at 3:30pm.  They are now back home in Idaho and will soon be going back to Utah for more appointments and to visit funeral homes.

    They will soon face stacking bills and the hardships that follow laying a child to rest.  And the emotional hardships of planning a funeral for their child.  Those of you that might know them know that they do not like asking for help, so some of us are asking for them.  Your donation will help give them the support they need to have time to process, grieve, and attempt to heal after experiencing the most tragic event that could ever happen to a parent.  It's unimaginable to most of us to even comprehend what they must be going through.  There is nothing that can be done to ease the pain that comes with such an unexpected tragedy.  They will never stop loving, missing, and grieving for the loss of their daughter.
