Hi, I'm Lex. I'm a non-binary transmasculine individual hoping to get their top surgery in the near future!

I started my social transition back in 2019, after having explored my gender identity for the prior two years and finally deciding to embrace my most authentic self, switching to my preferred pronouns and presenting in a way which felt more “me”. I referred myself to the Tavistock and Portman Gender Identity Clinic (GIC) in October of 2021 for gender affirming care and have remained on the waiting list ever since. At the time of creating this fundraiser, the GIC was only just processing referrals made to their service in June 2018, meaning I will likely be waiting until 2027 at the earliest before receiving news of my first appointment.

Unfortunately, the system has failed me, as well as so many other transgender individuals, and I have now reached a breaking point. The recent media coverage and the UK government's stance on trans rights has spurred me into action - I fear that if I do not take appropriate steps and act now, I will not be able to do so in the future.

I hope to undergo chest masculinisation surgery abroad within the next 2 years.
