Hey, so this sucks.
On September 7th I was officially diagnosed with Stage 1 Cervical Cancer. Initially I was hopeful, I felt I had the situation handled and nothing was too much for me to handle with a little creativity and perseverance.
Today I learned that instead of just surgery I’ll require chemotherapy and radiation therapy. This has wildly changed what I’m able to handle and the amount of work I’ll be able to do in the coming months.
As a Black non-binary queer tattoo artist I am self employed in an industry that doesn’t welcome me. I am self employed in a society that doesn’t welcome me, and yet I continue to survive. I continue to fight which I will always do, but now I need to admit that I need help.
I’m not eligible for EI, there are no social services available to aid me through this process and I’m scared. The fear is beginning to set into my heart, and now I turn to you.
I ask that if you have a dollar to spare you consider sharing it with me. If you know me, you know asking for help kills me- but at this point the cancer is probably killing me faster and this really really sucks.
I don’t know what to say, I don’t know what to do besides say thank you. Thank you for reading, caring and sharing or helping if you’re able to.
