Help Lewis Fight Pancreatic Cancer

Donation protected
This is my dad Lewis Sims. In September 2018, he was diagnosed with Metastatic Pancreatic Cancer. He went in to have his gallbladder checked  and what we thought would be a routine visit ,ended up being the devastating news of stage 4 pancreatic cancer. At the initial diagnosis we found out that the cancer had already spread to his liver, therefore removing it wasn't an option for him.

He is now receiving chemotherapy to help slow down the progression of the cancer and allow him more time with our family. It has been a long journey for all of us. The ebbs and flows of cancer is so unreal. There are so many more things that come with the diagnosis that we weren't prepared for.  While, he should only have to focus on his health, he is having to worry about financially how he can continue paying medical expenses on top of the necessities of life.

The most urgent need right now is assistance with medical bills. While he does have insurance, it only covers 80% of his chemotherapy and other supplies he needs. We are left with trying to figure out how to cover the remaining 20%.  His most recent stay in the hospital left him with  a drainage tube that has to be drained daily.  One of the problematic symptoms of pancreatic cancer is Ascites.  Ascites is usually the result of poor liver function and is a result of fluid build up in the abdominal cavity.  Without proper drainage,  it will cause difficulty breathing, swelling and pain in the abdominal area, and extreme fatigue. If the fluid remains too long it can cause further damage to other vital organs and possibly death.

Because of all of this, we  have to order the drainage kits weekly, but finding the resources to cover our 20% is more than we can handle.  By the grace of God, we've been able to order for this week, but we are forced with trying to figure out how to cover the cost for the next few weeks.

My dad is a humble man who has tackled this cancer head on. No matter what the battles are, he's never complained or question God. He would never, ever ask for help from anyone so I am asking for him. He is such a selfless guy with a huge heart who is always willing to help and give to others, so we are hoping to raise money to offset the financial burden caused by this illness.

Anything that you are able to give is greatly appreciated! He has been so appreciative of all the kind words, love and prayers that have already been sent his way. May God bless you.
