Hi, I'm Kat—a single mom of two amazing teenage boys, and a lifelong dog lover.
I want to be honest. I have never once asked for money, and doing so makes me deeply uncomfortable. But this is my baby, and there's nothing I wouldn't do for my family.
Every dog I've ever had has been a rescue. I don't know how to do it any other way.
When Levi was just a few weeks old, he came into my life barely hanging on—a tiny, sick puppy with a severe, untreated worm infestation that almost took his life before it had really begun. I fought for him then, and he pulled through. He's been my heart dog ever since.
Levi has been my shadow since he was small enough to fit in my hands. He and his big sister Perogi (a Husky/Shepherd/Boxer mix I rescued as a baby when wild dogs were being culled in her area), have been my whole world. Two rescues who needed someone in their corner. I'll always be that person.
Levi is a three-year-old German Shepherd/Alaskan Malamute mix. A big, loving brute who loves trouble and affection in equal measure. He charms every person he meets, naps through anything, and smiles at the world like it owes him nothing but belly rubs.
This week, Levi was diagnosed with diabetes. And to say we weren't prepared is an understatement.
At just three years old, he's facing a lifetime of twice-daily insulin injections, continuous glucose monitoring, specialized food, regular vet visits, and treatment for a recurring infection that his uncontrolled blood sugar has been making worse.
I saved Levi once. I'm not stopping now.
Every dollar goes directly toward his care: insulin, syringes, glucose monitoring equipment, vet visits, and whatever else this journey requires. If you've ever been loved by a dog, you know there's nothing you wouldn't do.
Thank you for being part of Levi's story.
