Let's Play! Cafe is a small town family entertainment destination and Friendly Local Game Store. We have been a meeting place for people to get together and enjoy some quality time away from home.
During a normal week we would have birthday parties, D&D sessions, Warhammer games, Magic the Gathering events and a 50 piece arcade making a racket over it all. At the same time retailing the supplies for all the above and more games and toy's to take home.
This October 2020 is our 6th anniversary, but this year will be different. No cake, no coffee and treats. No gathering with our community in celebration.
With the Covid-19 crisis we have had to curtail most of our operations and rely strictly on our retail business.
Many people have asked how we are doing, and it has been more than rough. For us, with the first stay at home order we were forced to lay off our employees and close the doors completely for two months.
Then when we were allowed to open we have had to keep the arcade closed and not be the gathering place for people to play. Leaving us with nothing but retail open. Our business model was never designed to rely only on that one leg alone.
Retail has been enough to keep the lights on with limited hours and only the owner working. But is no where near enough to cover the rent on the building.
We have been able to make an arrangement with the landlord that we can forgo the rent for the time being but the property taxes still need to be covered. While the government has asked landlords to suspend rent, they still want the taxes.
So we are reaching out to our community, to all those people who tell us how much they appreciate our being here. We want to stay, and if we can cover the taxes we can commit to being here until the Covid crisis passes.
For the year 2020 we have a tax bill of $5,637.59. If we can cover that then we make it to 2021 and see what that brings us.
Everyone is feeling the pinch in one way or another. If you can't help directly then please just share our story to others.
Thank you all
