Help Leslie Heal—My Second Mom Needs Us

Hey everyone,

My name is Christian and I’m writing this with a full heart and a lot of hope. Leslie isn’t technically my mom—but she’s been a mother to me in every way that counts.

Her son, Eiryn, was my best friend growing up. He wasn’t just the kid I hung out with—he was basically my only friend through elementary school, middle school, and high school. We were each other’s safe place. His home became mine, and Leslie made sure I always felt welcome, seen, and loved.

Even when years passed or distance grew, I always knew they were thinking of me. And I was thinking of them. That kind of connection doesn’t fade.

Leslie has carried more grief than most people should ever have to. Her husband passed away over a decade ago from a heart attack. Then, seven years ago—on my birthday—we lost Eiryn to sleep apnea. I can’t describe what that loss felt like. I just know that something in both of us broke that day. And still… she kept going. She kept showing up with love and strength and open arms.

Now, she needs us.

Leslie just had her second kidney transplant. The first one failed within a year, which was heartbreaking. This new one gives her another shot—but the recovery is long, the medications are nonstop, and the costs are piling up fast. She won’t ask for help, so I’m doing it for her.
