My name is Leslie, and I am reaching out because I am working towards transferring to a 4-year university to pursue my dream of becoming a nurse. My mom is the head and supporter of my little brother and I. She already carries so much responsibility, and asking her to take on the financial burden of my education would be incredibly difficult. Because of this, I am doing everything I can to fund my education on my own. I am currently completing all my prerequisites for my RN and BSN at a community college, so that when I transfer, I can focus fully on the nursing program. As many know, the cost of attending a university is high, and there are many additional expenses like books, housing, food, and supplies. I have been doing everything I can to cover these costs—working full-time at a nursing home and applying for scholarships—but it is still difficult to save enough in just a year.


My dream is not only to become a nurse, but also to serve as a missionary, bringing medical care to parts of the world where people have little or no access to healthcare because of financial barriers. I want to use my skills to help those who need it most, no matter where they are. After gaining experience in the healthcare field, I also hope to become a lawyer to defend nurses who are unfairly accused, ensuring that those who dedicate their lives to caring for others are treated justly.


This support will allow me to focus on my studies and get the most out of my education, without the constant worry about how to afford the next semester. My goal is to become a nurse specializing in caring for the elderly, and every bit of help, no matter the size brings me closer to making a real difference in people’s lives—both here and around the world.
