Help Leslie as she Battle's Brain Cancer
Donation protected
This is Leslie, a 17-year-old kid who was previously healthy and doing things she likes. She loves to cook and wants to be a famous chef someday. She enjoys reading books and loves to write stories. Right now, she has four stories unfinished because of her condition.
Leslie began to develop dizziness and headaches last January of this year. In April of this year, Leslie started experiencing walking issues where she felt dizzy and unstable. In June 2023, Leslie began having problems communicating with slowed, slurred speech. Illness has worsened over time, including eating, breathing, and swallowing. She also began experiencing blurred vision. She had a rapidly progressive neurological decline with cerebellar ataxia, parkinsonism, spasticity, and bulbar symptoms.
Despite all these symptoms, all her tests came back normal, so they decided to do a brain biopsy.
November 23, 2023, Leslie was diagnosed with a high-grade glioma, a scarce type of brain tumour. The tumour cells have been found throughout her brain. However, there is no tangible mass that can be removed surgically. This month, oncology will meet with Leslie to discuss potential treatment options that can help slow the progression.
Since January, Leslie has been to her family doctor or the hospital at least monthly over the above concerns. Leslie has been admitted to the Alberta Children's Hospital since October 2023. She had several admissions previously to this.
Over the last months of this year, Leslie has undergone several tests, including CT scans, MRIs, lumbar punctures, amino acid testing, and involvement with several specialties, including Clinical Genetics, Rheumatology, Infectious Disease, Metabolics, Ophthalmology, Respirology, Neurology, and Oncology, to name a few. Leslie underwent a brain biopsy on November 16, which determined the diagnosis of a brain tumour.
Hello, my name is Liza, and I am Leslie's mom. I am doing this fundraising campaign for my daughter Leslie, who had been diagnosed with Stage 4 Brain Cancer just recently. Leslie is a very bright and hardworking daughter and loves to help the best that she can. But with her condition right now, she is so frustrated that she can't do the things that she likes. Our family is struggling financially, and your generous donation will help us a lot with our medical and living expenses, as both her parents are not working now because Leslie needs care. She needs a lot of equipment for home care, and our bills are starting to pile up.
Leslie wanted her family to be with her during this treatment process, but also worried about the bills that her family could not afford to pay because of her condition. We don't know how to support her financially if she needs our close care. Your generous support to us will be highly appreciated.
Thank you so much for your understanding and support. May God bless you abundantly.
