Leroy Johnson has been writing a new collection of songs in Barkindji language, and now it’s time to record them with The Waterbag Band to share them far and wide!

Some of this new work has already begun making its way into the world. Leroy recently wrote songs in Language as part of the MURRA Open Cut project for Broken Hill City Art Gallery, and these songs have become part of a growing body of music drawing on Country, family, language, history and life in the Far West.

We’re booked into Castlemaine Sound Recordings to capture the new songs with the full Waterbag Band.

It’s the same studio where we recorded our last two singles, and we absolutely loved working with Alex there — recording live, onto reel-to-reel tape, and capturing the warmth and energy of the band playing together.

We’re largely self-funding the recording, but it's a long way to travel from far west New South Wales to central Victoria, we’d love a little help getting these songs from the studio into your hands — helping cover the costs of travel, accommodation, recording, mixing, mastering, artwork and getting the finished album printed and released.

Every contribution, big or small, helps us get there.
